Stuart Silverman (Director)
Stuart started working the industry in 1995 whilst still at University where he studied Business Quantitative Methods. He went on to work for one of Europe’s biggest contract furniture suppliers which is where he honed his knowledge of British and European manufacturers. Stuart will therefore be your main point of contact when it comes to sourcing products for your specific project.
Jonathan Thompson (Director)
Jonathan studied International Business Management at Newcastle Business School and started life within the interiors industry late 2009 joining Camira Fabrics on their graduate scheme. He quickly found his niche in Commercial sales as part of the UK contract team and soon moved into Senior Management postions at the age of 26 travelling throughout Europe gaining valuable knowledge of all our key partners. Jonathan most recently worked at Altro Floors as one of their Commercial Managers focussing on client development and project management.
At the heart of all these businesses was a cultural desire to put customer needs at the forefront of all decision making which fits well with the team at Oblong! Jonathan alongside Stuart will be your main point of contact when it comes to sourcing products for your specific project.
Paul has worked in the industry since the formation of Arc in 1983 after graduating in furniture design from Leeds Polytechnic. He is the one who tends to take on the responsibility for our special and custom design projects. Paul specialises in the design side incorporating reception desks and specials as featured in our case study section.
Who we are
Formed in 2004 Oblong Furniture started out as a sister company to Arc Design who specialised in the design and production of custom furniture for the contract market.
In 2007 Oblong and Arc Design merged all of the operational activity into Oblong (with Arc retaining the owner- ship of the award winning premises that we currently occupy in Leeds). The merged business allowed us to concentrate our efforts into being a specialist in the sourcing, design, procurement and installation of standard and bespoke furniture for our clients within the commercial and leisure sectors.
Our knowledge and flexibility in these areas has provided us with a firm footing to work through these tough economic times and has enabled us to provide our clients with the products and personal service on which we pride ourselves.
Whenever you work with us you will be dealing with one or both of the owner/directors making use of their individual skills and experience.
